Peptides are short chains of amino acids that serve as the building blocks of proteins. It's important to know what's really what with peptides.Today, we’ll talk about CJC-1295/Ipamorelin, a peptide that is studied for its potential to help stimulate the body’s natural production of growth hormone (GH).
The Hormone Cascade
Let's upscope a sec. The body's hormone cascade begins in the hypothalamus, the brain's master command center. Think of hypothalamic hormones at the top of the chain -- like the the CEO -- and "all sh*t rolls downhill".
The hypothalamus (via releasing hormones) tells the pituitary - the primary hormone signaling gland in the brain - what to do. The pituitary gland is like the C-Suite - comprised of different Vice Presidents, each specializing in a different function. Then, the pituitary (the VP) tells the workers (in this case, the end organs) what to do.

What do GHRH and GH do?
In adults, GHRH maintains and manages growth, usually in the bones, muscles and tissues. It also influences metabolism, usually in the liver through a hormone called Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF-1) and an appetite hormone called gherlin in the stomach.[1].
Most often this communication happens via feedback loop between the pituitary and end organs. In this case, GH asks the end organs if it has enough resources to do their jobs. If the answer is "no" then it sends the feedback up the chain, where GHRH gives it permission to secrete more hormone and get the job done. If the answer is "yes" then pituitary and secreting organs holds hormone levels steady.
As we age, the body is very slowly ramping us down over years and decades. While our levels stay fairly steady day to day, we're slowly secreting less of both hormones (GHRH and GH) over time.
What is CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin?
CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin might be the peanut butter and jelly of peptides - better together. To understand why, let's look at each individually.
CJC-1295
CJC-1295 is a GHRH "analog" (i.e. it acts like it). It influences the natural release of GH from the pituitary. What's interesting is CJC's ability to increase GH levels and provide a sustained release of GH.
