The Natural Gastro Podcast
Your doctor said you're fine. You're not fine. The Natural Gastro Podcast starts where conventional medicine stops, and where Dr. Dan Wool goes deeper to find what standard medicine misses with gut health and hormones -- and fix it for good.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Fix your gut, solve your health
Dr. Dan Wool is an Arizona-licensed naturopathic physician and founder of Practical Vitality in Scottsdale. He goes to where standard medicine runs out of answers, into the mechanisms your GI doctor probably hasn't explained, the connections between your gut and your hormones nobody has drawn for you, and what actually resolves the root cause.
You've had the colonoscopy or endoscopy. The labs all came back normal. Your gastroenterologist found nothing, and sent you home with a prescription that manages your symptoms without addressing what's actually wrong. Meanwhile, your gut is still on fire, your hormones are tanked, and your energy hasn't returned.
Every episode goes deep into one condition or mechanism: SIBO, IBS, leaky gut, dysbiosis, acid reflux, histamine intolerance, and the gut-hormone axis. Nothing here is wellness trends or biohacking. Everything is evidence-based, rigorously practiced, and explained in plain language.
Dr. Dan spent 20 years in corporate America before his own undiagnosed gut nearly broke him. A naturopathic doctor found what conventional medicine missed, and he recovered completely. That experience became this practice, this show, and this mission: find what conventional medicine misses, and fix it for good.

Your Doctor Said You're Fine. You're Not Fine.
Trailer • Hosted by Dr. Dan Wool, NMD
Normal scope. Normal labs. Told everything looks fine, but the bloating, fatigue, and hormone crash say otherwise. Dr. Dan Wool, an Arizona naturopathic physician, was that patient for three years until a naturopathic doctor found Celiac disease. In this trailer, he explains where conventional GI stops and why your gut and hormones are the same problem.

[00:01] Your gut is ruining your life. Your hormones are making it worse. And your doctor just told you that everything looks fine? It's not fine. I am Dr. Dan Wool, naturopathic physician and founder of Practical Vitality. And this is the Natural Gastro Podcast, where we find what conventional medicine misses and fix it for good.
[00:30] I want to start with something I've said to probably 500 patients by now. You've seen the gastroenterologist, you had the colonoscopy, maybe you had the endoscopy too. Scopes came back clean, the labs all came back normal. The doctor looked at you and said the words that are somehow supposed to be reassuring. Everything looks fine. And you wanted to believe that.
You really did. But your body had a different answer. The bloating, the gut pain, the fatigue that never lifts, the hormones that feel like they fell off a cliff, brain fog, sleep that doesn't restore anything. Your body said nothing about this is fine. And I know that feeling. Not as a physician, but as a patient.
You see, before I was a doctor, I spent 20 years in corporate America, in PR and communications, Fortune 500 companies, tech startups. These were high pressure, high stakes, high functioning situations, and I went home to a young family every night to boot. Privately, I was completely falling apart. I was 30 pounds underweight, but somehow I had belly fat. I was sleeping four hours a night.
I was pale, dark circles under my eyes, irritable constantly. My libido had essentially checked out, and my gut, worst of all, my gut was on fire. I ignored it for about three years. I told myself it was stress, that it was the job, it was travel, it would get better. I went to doctors, I got prescriptions, I got referrals to other doctors, and every single one of them told me the same thing. Your labs look fine, everything looks normal.
But I was not fine. And nothing about that was normal. Finally, finally, I found a naturopathic doctor. She actually sat with me. She looked at the big picture. She ran tests my other doctors had never ordered. She suspected celiac disease, an allergy to wheat. Kind of simple. And she was right. Within months of treating the actual root cause, not masking it, not managing it.
[02:55] Actually treating it, I felt better than I had in more than a decade. And then I was furious. I mean, not at her, but at the kind of care that was out there that I never knew existed. The whole time I was suffering, I just didn't know. No one had pointed me toward it. That anger changed my life. I left my career, I went back to school, and I earned my doctorate in naturopathic medicine at Sonoran University in Tempe, Arizona.
And for the past eight years, I have spent every clinical day sitting across from people whose stories sound exactly like mine. Here's what I've learned in those eight years of practice that I want to say plainly because no one ever says it. Your gut is ruining your life. Your hormones are making it worse. And your doctor just told you that everything looks fine. It's not fine.
The conventional gastroenterology system's very good at what it was designed to do. Find cancers, identify structural disease, and manage what can be managed pharmaceutically. But the most common chronic GI conditions IBS, SIBO, leaky gut, dysbiosis, histamine intolerance, none of these show up on a scope. None of them appear on standard lab panels. And then
When the scope finds nothing, this conventional system is largely run out of tools. You get a diagnosis of exclusion, you get a prescription that manages your symptoms without touching the root cause. And then you get sent home. In the same shape maybe you were before you started. And honestly, that's not a failure of medicine. It's just a limitation of a system that's built around a different model. My job as a naturopathic doctor is what comes next.
The Natural Gastro Podcast exists for one reason. There are people out there right now who've seen the specialists, they've had the scopes, they've run the standard labs, tried all the diets, bought all the supplements off the internet, and they're still suffering. And they don't know that a different approach exists. That functional testing can find what standard workups miss, that their gut and their hormones are not separate problems.
[05:22] They're the same problem, upstream and downstream of one another. That root cause medicine is not fringe. It's rigorous, it's evidence-based, and more importantly, it works. Every episode of this show is going to go exactly where conventional gastroneurology and conventional medicine stop. We're going to talk about conditions your GI doctor probably hasn't fully explained, mechanisms, your labs are not designed to find, connections between your gut and your hormones that no one has ever drawn for you. And we're going to talk about what to actually do about it.
In real clinical terms, from a physician, me, who's been on both sides of this conversation. The show launches October sixth. New episodes will drop every Tuesday. If you're already thinking, yeah, that's me. That's exactly what I've been through. I want to hear from you. Book a 15-minute discovery call at drdanwool.com. We'll look at where you are, what's been missed, and what the next steps might look like. This is not a show about wellness trends. It's not about supplements. It's not about biohacking. And it's not anything that requires you to believe in something that hasn't been tested. This is naturopathic medicine, practice at the highest level.
Explained in plain language for people who are being told they're fine when they know they're not. I'm Dr. Dan Wool. Welcome to the Natural Gastro Podcast. Thanks for spending time with me today. If anything in this episode sounded like your story, the normal labs, the normal scope, the symptoms that won't quit, you're exactly who our practice was built for.
