This article breaks down the research honestly — without hype on either side.

## What Is Glyphosate?

Glyphosate is a broad-spectrum herbicide first introduced in the 1970s. It works by inhibiting a key enzyme called EPSPS — short for 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase — which is part of the shikimate pathway. This pathway is how plants (and bacteria) produce essential amino acids like phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan.
